About Mark

Dear neighbors and friends,

I am honored to have been your Ward 2 Councilman for the last eight years. I am running for Mayor in the upcoming election and I am again asking for your support.

First, a little about myself. I have been married to my wife Wendy for 46 years. We have three children, five grandchildren, and have lived in Ramsey for 24 years. We are members of Saint Katharine Drexel Catholic Church.

My brother and I own a printing company in Northeast Minneapolis. We've been in business for 42 years, which equates to 2,184 consecutive weeks of balancing a budget, making payroll, paying vendors, understanding insurance, and generating sales. We're proud to have accomplished this while facing a very difficult and changing business climate in our industry.

I sat on the Executive Board of the Printing Industry of Minnesota for 13 years. During my tenure, I held the positions of Treasurer, Vice Chair, and the Chairman of the Board. I served with the NE Kiwanis for 25 years, first as a member and subsequently as Vice President and President. I currently serve as Treasurer for the Minnesota 100 Club, an organization that supports the families of peace officers, firefighters, correctional officers, and EMTs that are injured or killed in the line of duty. I'm a current member and past president of the Ramsey City Foundation, which organizes the annual Music in the Draw Park.

During my eight years as the Ramsey Ward 2 councilman, I have served in a variety of capacities:

  • Current chair of the Public Works Committee
  • Council appointee to the Economic Development Authority
  • Served for seven years as a commissioner on the Lower Rum Watershed
  • Served on the Ramsey Fire Board
  • Served on the Joint Anoka Law Enforcement Committee

Some of the city accomplishments I am proud to have been a part of include:

  • The Highway 10 and Armstrong interchange
  • The new business park and the development of downtown Ramsey
  • Helped secure the final 37 acres of land that will complete the focal point to the future Lake Itasca Park
  • Reduced train noise nuisance by helping set up 5 whistle free zones along the Highway 10 corridor

During my time on the City Council, I have gained an integral knowledge of how the city works. Serving with my fellow council members and working with our outstanding city staff has helped shape my outlook on how to best develop a strategic plan for the city. I understand the intricacies of creating a successful city budget. Whether the issue at hand is road maintenance, public safety, police and fire, or taxes, I know we are all in this together.

Our goal for Ramsey is a balance between rural character and providing urban amenities. If elected Mayor, I will vote for what is the best for the overall city of Ramsey and all of the people that live here. I am passionate about our community, keeping our taxes fair, improving and maintaining the roads, providing quality housing options with a safe environment and all of the essential services needed to run our city.

Thanks for your support, and I humbly ask for your vote on Tuesday, November 3rd.
